The Painted Trillium (Trillium undulatum) that are in our woods are generally smaller than the red. This one is about 15" tall and the flower (point-to-point) is about 2.5".
A close-up of the bloom.
Photo from May 15.
This photograph was taken on May 18. It is a very small painted trillium.  Whereas the trilliums above have flowers about 2.5 inches wide, this one is about an inch point to point.
The plant was only about 6 inches tall.
