First, a ruby throated hummingbird that hit our window, and was resting in a flower pot.
Second, below, a mother hermit thrush sitting on it's babies, and to
the right, it's babies. Interestingly, when these babies had grown
to near fledging size, one of my dogs picked up one of the babies, who
had apparently left the nest, and carried it all the way home (about 200')
and set it down unhurt on by the door. I replaced it in the nest,
and it survived fine.
Next, below, 2 snakes, a common garter snake, and a milk snake. Normally, the milk snake stayed completely below the leaves, but this time it's body was not hidden. Note near the center, in the upper right quadrant, the head of the snake coming out from below the leaves.
Below, a poor (sorry) picture of a mother and baby loon on the local pond. Loons often come closer, but never when we have the camera.
Below, an ermine, ie a small weasel. These are all white in the winter, and dark in the summer. This one is changing.
Below, a big (about a foot in diameter) snapping turtle, that came up from a nearby bog area to lay eggs in a sandy area. Also, a piliated woodpecker.
Below, a deer and a poor picture of a young moose (sorry, it ran away
before the camera was ready, but at least it's ears and back are apparent
it the middle of the picture).
Below, a flock of evening grosbeaks that visited our feeder. Except
during breeding season, the grosbeaks seem to travel in flocks, so that
you either see none of them or a LOT of them.
