Minutes Board of Selectpersons of Sweden, ME

Nov. 3, 2009

Present were William Jones, Alberta Ridlon, John P. Smith, DJ Curtis, Ken Forde, Jean Bouchard, and Ron Kiesman. The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance at 6 p.m.

Roads: Mrs. Ridlon reported that Mr. Clifford had said that he was seeking a bid from Pike for the Waterford Road. Mrs Ridlon discussed FEMA money used for projects. Mr. Noble explained how FEMA work needs to be done.

Finance: The budget for 2010 was reviewed. Payroll has been taken from Town Charges and put in Salaries. The SVFD Financial Shortfall for 2009 was discussed. Mr. Noble will be asked to attend the next meeting to discuss the overdraft and the 2010 budget.

Other: (1) Mr. Forde asked about management letter previously sent to the Selectmen and update of liens. Mrs. Ridlon reiterated that Mrs. Flint had been asked for information and liens and unpaid taxes. (2) The Selectmen discussed various job descriptions for town positions. (3) Mr. Kiesman discussed replacing and ordering new road signs. Harmon Lane is the private road needing a sign. He asked to be reimbursed for mileage for 911 road trips. It was voted to approve this. (3-0) (4) John Smith mentioned that he would like to see all department heads approving bills before paying them. Alberta will leave a note in Department Heads mail boxes informing them. (5) The Selectmen signed a letter to a resident regarding improper trash dumping.
